Taipa Village is a quaint fishing village adjacent to Macau with 800 years of history. After its annexation by the Portuguese in mid 1800’s the village received an injection of European influence creating a unique blend of architecture and heritage. The village is one of the very few colonial era building clusters in the territory, carefully preserved and restored, and now ranking in the top 3 must visit attractions in Macau.
The Sniper team first invested in the village in 2004, with the vision to breathe new life into the largely empty, derelict and abandoned buildings and create a vibrant attractive destination for locals and tourists alike.
Over the following years the team restored, rebuilt and repositioned over 20 buildings, preserving the authentic heritage of the village and in parallel re-energizing the area by bringing the international tourism and food scene. Taipa Village Destination Limited was created by the team to engage all stakeholders to help develop the rea into a cultural and gastronomic destination where the old and new can co-exist in harmony.
The village today is a vibrant Retail and F&B scene, visited by tourists from around the world but still a beloved place by locals. Two further associations were created;
The Taipa Village Art Space, to support local artists and enhance the artistic and lifestyle spirit of the destination, and The Cultural Association to serve the community and collaborate with the local government.
